Independent commentator.
Weekly columnist.
TV talking head.

In Colorado and beyond, Eric Sondermann is known for his ability with words…his incisive, no-holds-barred political analysis…and his independent, non-aligned, pox-on- both-your-houses approach.

About Eric Sondermann

A Colorado native (even if only one letter stands between “native” and “naïve”), Eric has long operated at the intersection of politics and mass media.

For much of his career, he was on the political side of that corner as a highly respected consultant with a knack for framing winning messages for candidates (very long ago) as well as issues and causes.

Leaving college sans degree, Eric spent six years as the youngest of the young turks on the staff of then-Colorado Gov. Dick Lamm. From there, he moved into the media consulting world via the “Imagine a Great City” campaign that elected Federico Peña as Denver’s mayor. He went on to found the media and public affairs firm of SE2.

Long a media figure regularly called upon as a go-to source of political insight, Eric fully crossed that bridge over a decade ago to devote himself to media commentary in all its forms.

In this troubling age of deep division, even tribalism, Eric stands apart as a sane, calm, centrist voice of reason. He is thought too conservative by the left and too liberal by the right.

That qualifies as some kind of sweet spot.

With most of what passes for analysis these days being just thinly disguised spin, Eric understands the difference. He writes and speaks with clarity and candor grounded in a deep understanding of political forces.

To top if off, Eric has a long commitment to civic leadership. Over the past decades, he has served on ten nonprofit boards, leading four of them as board chair.

With his wife Tracy Dunning, Eric now divides his time between Denver and the mountains of Tabernash. Good living involves less of the former and more of the latter. They are the parents of two grown, wonderful, largely-launched children, Katrina and Clarke.
